Kent-born Paralympian and reigning wheelchair champion JohnBoy Smith has returned to Dubai to defend his title.
In 2016 Smith, who has trained alongside David Weir, set a new course record with 1h:35m:56s and goes into this year’s race as favourite hoping to make it two in a row.
Canadian Paralympian Josh Cassidy is the fastest man ever to complete a marathon and is the current world record holder over the distance.
While he believes a new world record may be out of his reach in Dubai, he has his eyes set on a win and a new course record.
